THERAPY FAQs

WHAT DOES MFT AND PCC STAND FOR?

MFT stands for marriage and family therapist, which means I am a therapist that counsels individuals (both children, adolescents, and adults), couples, and families. PCC stands for professional clinical counselor, which broadens my scope of practice and allows me to diagnose and treat patients with mental illness. Basically, these fancy titles are a way to communicate to the public that I have received the necessary training to help clients work through interpersonal issues, life transitions, emotional turmoil, and improve mental wellness.

WHAT DOES YOUR “ASSOCIATE” STATUS MEAN?

When a therapist is an “associate” it means they have received the necessary education and training to be a professional clinician. However, they are still gaining the clinical experience/hours required to be fully licensed in their state and work under the supervision of a licensed clinician. For example, I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #143414) and a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC #15721) in the state of California. I work under the supervision of psychologist Dr. Bahareh Talei PSY #21252. This means I professionally see clients, but meet with my supervisor on a weekly basis to update and consult her about my clients’ treatment.

IF I LIVE OUTSIDE THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, CAN I STILL BE A CLIENT?

Unfortunately, no, I am only authorized to work as a therapist in the state of California. However, if you are looking for a professional to enhance your brand or design a few logos - I’m your gal! I’ve worked with clients all across the United States and always seek to further my reach. You can visit my design page here to learn more.

WHAT VIDEO PLATFORMS DO YOU USE FOR TELEHeaLTH SESSIONS?

Telehealth sessions must be held over a video chat platform. I prefer to use Zoom for sessions, however, I’ll also utilize SimplePractice on occasion to create a clickable link you can use through your web browser.
